Small-group champagne tour to Reims and Épernay

A van of eight at most leaves Paris for both champagne towns in one day: Reims Cathedral, a family producer, a big house and the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay. Pick it for the most ground covered at the lowest price of the trips with hotel pickup.

Small-Group Champagne Tour: Reims & Épernay

About this experience

GO GO TOURS SARL runs this long day with a local driver-guide and a minivan capped at eight. It is the only trip from Paris on this site that takes in both Reims and Épernay. You get a short guided visit of Notre-Dame de Reims, the cathedral of 25 royal coronations, a guided visit and tasting at a family-owned producer, then a well-known house, and a photo stop on the Avenue de Champagne. Along the way come a blind tasting and a sabrage demonstration: a bottle opened with a sabre.

The big house is the soft spot. The listing says "such as Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon, Taittinger, or Nicolas Feuillatte (subject to availability)", and adds that the itinerary may change with the houses' availability. Treat those names as examples. In November and December Veuve Clicquot opens Wednesday to Sunday only, so a Monday tour then won't land there.

Lunch is free time: you choose a restaurant or café and pay for it yourself. That keeps the price at $265, the lowest of the Paris pickup trips here. Twelve hours is a lot, and about four of them are motorway. If you'd rather taste than sightsee, the 8 tastings day trip drops the cathedral for a second grower and puts lunch in the price.

Tips before you book

  • Watch your phone the day before. Pickup details arrive by message.
  • Bring a jacket. The operator says it gets cold in the cellars.
  • Budget for lunch and any glasses you add. Only the tastings are in the price.
  • Hoping for Veuve Clicquot in late autumn? Pick a Wednesday to Sunday, and treat it as a hope.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. There is some walking at each stop.

Frequently asked questions

Does the small-group tour visit Veuve Clicquot?

Maybe. Veuve Clicquot is one of four example houses, with Moët & Chandon, Taittinger and Nicolas Feuillatte, all subject to availability. The only listing here that names Veuve Clicquot is the private Veuve Clicquot trip.

Is lunch included on the small-group champagne tour?

No. You get free time to choose a restaurant or café and pay for it yourself. Additional food and drinks are also on you.

How long do you spend at Reims Cathedral?

About 25 minutes, as a short guided visit. Enough for the west front and the nave; for the cathedral and the town at your own pace, see Reims or Épernay.

Does the tour go to Reims or Épernay?

Both. The cathedral and the first visits are in and around Reims, and the Avenue de Champagne is in Épernay, about 27 km away.
