Which champagne houses are open in winter 2026-27?

Pommery and Moët & Chandon open the most days. Veuve Clicquot, Mumm and Mercier open fewer days a week, and de Castellane closes for the winter after 22 December.

The table below comes from each house's own visit page or its listing with the Épernay tourist office, checked on 29 October 2026. Gaps are gaps: where a house publishes no hours for a period, we say so rather than guess.

Is Veuve Clicquot open in winter?

Until 3 January 2027, Wednesday to Sunday, 9:30 to 17:30, closed on 25 December and 1 January. The house has not yet published its dates after that.

The Veuve Clicquot visit page lists Tuesday to Sunday opening until 1 November, then Wednesday to Sunday from 4 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Last winter the visitor centre closed on 28 December 2025 and reopened on 7 April 2026. If it follows the same pattern, January to early April 2027 has no visits. Treat that as likely, not confirmed, until the house updates its page.

This matters for the private Veuve Clicquot trip from Paris. It is the only tour on this site that names its house, and its listing says that if the visit is not available on your date, the operator offers a relevant alternative or a higher-level experience, which you can accept or cancel for free. Book it for a Wednesday to Sunday before 3 January if Veuve Clicquot itself is the point. Its cancellation window is three days, not 24 hours.

Which champagne houses are open all year?

Pommery in Reims, every day except 25 December and 1 and 2 January. Moët & Chandon in Épernay lists daily opening and no closures on its site.

Pommery runs Sunday to Thursday 10:00 to 18:00 and Friday and Saturday 10:00 to 19:00, all year. Bus C stops at "Pommery" about 20 minutes from the station. Its cellars are about 10 °C in any season, which makes them the warmest place in town in January.

Moët & Chandon on the Avenue de Champagne opens daily. The page gives 9:30 to 17:00 for visits and 9:30 to 18:00 for the shop. It takes walk-ins when places are left, but book ahead anyway. Mumm is the partial case: Thursday to Monday through 21 December, then no hours listed until 15 January, then Thursday to Saturday only until the end of February.

In Épernay, Mercier switches to Wednesday to Sunday with a lunch break after 15 November and is not listed as open from 31 December to 11 February 2027. De Castellane is open daily, 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, until 22 December only.

What's on in Champagne in December 2026?

Habits de Lumière in Épernay on 11, 12 and 13 December 2026, and the Reims Christmas market, which usually runs from late November to late December.

Habits de Lumière reaches its 26th edition this year. Friday and Saturday evenings bring illuminations, video-mapping, champagne bars, live music and fireworks to the Avenue de Champagne. Saturday daytime is a food day with chefs and growers, and Sunday has a parade of about 500 vintage vehicles. The tourist office says it draws around 50,000 people, and it is one of the busiest moments of the year on the Avenue, so book trains and dinner early.

The Reims Christmas market fills the Hautes Promenades near the Porte de Mars with about 150 chalets. Listings such as Festival en France give 25 November to 27 December 2026, but the same page says the edition is not yet confirmed. Plan on late November to late December, and check the city's own announcement before you fix a date. Reims is 46 minutes from Paris Gare de l'Est by TGV, an easy evening trip. Timetables change in mid-December, so check trains again after you book.

Do champagne tours from Paris run in winter?

Pack for it. Cellars sit at about 10 °C all year, and Reims averages a December high of 6.9 °C and a low of 1.5 °C, with December the wettest month (Météo-France normals). A tour from Paris is still a ten to eleven-hour day, much of it in a warm van.

How do you plan a winter champagne trip?

Go on a Thursday to Sunday, avoid 24 December to 2 January, and book every house visit online. January and February are the quietest and most limited months.

• Pick your days. Thursday to Sunday is the only window when Pommery, Moët, Veuve Clicquot (to 3 January) and Mumm are all open.
• Skip the holiday week. Pommery closes on 25 December and 1 and 2 January; Veuve Clicquot on 25 December and 1 January; Mumm lists nothing from 22 December.
• Check lunch. The tourist office warns that many businesses close for part of January for annual leave.
• Book trains late. The SNCF timetable changes in mid-December, so confirm departures after the change.
• Go by train for growers. The afternoon tour from Reims and the three family domains day visit family estates, not visitor centres.
