Every big house sells a ladder of visits. The bottom rung is a cellar tour and one glass. The top rung is four hours, old vintages and a price that looks like a dinner. Most first-timers book the second step, and that is usually the right call.
We checked the visit pages of each house on 29 October 2026. Prices are per adult in euros, at the house. Tours from Paris are listed in US dollars, because that is how GetYourGuide shows them, so the two currencies sit side by side below.

- Taittinger: the renovated Saint-Nicaise cellars opened in July 2024 with visits at €40 to €80 (Decanter). The house's own pages do not show 2026 prices, so check its ticket office.
Our pick in Reims for a first visit is Mumm's €30 Cordon Rouge tour. Spend the difference on Veuve Clicquot's €60 rosé tour if you like rosé.

What does a Moët & Chandon tour cost, and what about Épernay?
Moët starts at €48 for The Imperial Moment and the house recommends the €65 Signature for first-timers. Mercier and de Castellane, on the same avenue, start at €20 to €25.
Moët & Chandon has the longest ladder in Champagne: The Imperial Moment €48, Signature €65 and Grand Vintage €85 (all 1 h 30), Moët Collection €190, Haute Œnologie €220, Terroir Treasures €235, À la Volée €460, and a Habits de Lumière dinner at €520. The house runs 28 km of cellars. Is it worth it? The Signature, yes, once. Go for the cellars. The higher steps are for people who want older vintages in the glass.
Down the avenue, Mercier charges €25 to €45 and puts you on a small train through its cellars, which children enjoy (child rate €12). De Castellane starts at €20 with a climb up its 66 m tower, open until 22 December this year. Perrier-Jouët sells tastings from €20 to €45 in its Belle Époque cellier.
| Moët & Chandon visit | Length | Price |

| Grand Vintage | 1 h 30 | €85 |
| Moët Collection | 2 h | €190 |

Let a wine guide pick the houses and book them: one big name, two family producers, lunch with three champagnes.
Check dates for the day trip with 8 tastings and lunchDo you need to book champagne house tours in advance?
For the big houses, yes. Ruinart is booked weeks ahead, Veuve Clicquot and Mumm sell their visits online, and Moët takes walk-ins only when places are left.
Rules differ a lot. Moët says visits are possible without booking but places are limited. Lanson lets you into the shop and its tastings without a reservation, but the cellar tours are booked. Ruinart runs twelve places a visit, and a third-party guide reports it sells out weeks ahead. On the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, champagne bars and tasting rooms take walk-ins, which is the cheap fallback when the houses are full.
Book two visits at most in one day, with at least an hour between them in Reims, where the houses are spread across town. Under-18s must be with an adult at Mumm and Pommery, and Ruinart, Lanson and Mercier have child prices.
| House | Walk-in? | How to book |
|---|---|---|
| Ruinart | No (third-party guide) | Online, twelve places per visit |
| Veuve Clicquot | Book online | Online ticket per visit |
| Mumm | Book online | Online, EN/FR/IT/ES |
| Moët & Chandon | If places are left | Online recommended |
| Lanson | Shop and tastings only | Online or by email for tours |
| Avenue de Champagne bars | Yes | No booking needed |
Is a champagne tour from Paris cheaper than doing it yourself?
No. A DIY day with the TGV and two house visits costs roughly €120 to €140 per person before lunch. Guided tours from Paris cost $265 to $556 per person, and buy you a driver, a guide, family growers and, on some tours, lunch.
The train is the cheap part. Paris Gare de l'Est to Reims takes 46 minutes, with most SNCF fares at €27 to €28 one way and a few from €15 if you book early. Paris to Épernay is about 1 h 20 on the regional train, from €11 and usually around €31. Fares and timetables change in mid-December. Add Mumm at €30 and Veuve Clicquot at €36 and a couple spends about €240 before lunch.
What a tour adds is the growers. Family estates rarely run public visitor centres, and the guides know which ones to call. The day trip with 8 tastings and lunch includes eight or more tastings and a lunch with three champagnes. The afternoon tour from Reims costs $150 on top of your train and visits two family wineries. Mumm at €30 in Reims and Mercier at €25 in Épernay give you a real cellar tour for the least money. Spend more only for the wine, not the walk.
The cellar walk is much the same at every price. What climbs is the glass: older vintages, rarer cuvées, more of them. Take the entry tour at one house and the mid-level tasting at the house whose wine you like best.
Ruinart at €90 is the exception: one visit, small groups and the oldest house on Saint-Nicaise hill, with chalk quarries on the UNESCO list. Pricey, and worth it for people who already love chardonnay. For the full rundown of what each house is like, read the champagne houses to visit.
